Current Trail Maintenance Projects

2008 Work Party Schedule

Berkshire Trails Counsel (of which we're a member) has a commitment to the State of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Management to provide a minimum of 400 hours of volunteer time each year at four Western Massachusetts State Forests (Pittsfield, Tolland, October, and  Beartown).  It is this commitment that allows these forests to be open for ORV use.

Our club's responsibility to this commitment is to provide volunteer hours at Pittsfield State Forest.  In order to ensure we meet our commitment, our club has three work parties each year with dates posted in the quarterly newsletter and on this website in advance.

The Second work party for the 2008 season is scheduled for Sunday July 27th.  We will meet at West Street Field.  Bring your ATV, a lunch, shovels, rakes, and saws. We will break into small teams and, with enough volunteers, this effort should be completed by mid afternoon.

All work parties are open to members and non-members and it is a perfect time for non-members to meet members, learn new trails,  and decide if joining the club is for them.  If being part of an organized club is not your thing, your attendance will be greatly appreciated and will help in keeping the trails open to ORV use for all of us to enjoy.  Only members will be eligible for the awards and prizes given away at our annual Holiday Party and Awards Night.

In order to meet our commitment to the State of Massachusetts to keep select forests open for ATV use, work parties for 2007 will continue to be incentivized.  Here's how we play the work party incentive game:  The club will have three work parties that qualify during 2008 year.  Each participant chooses two playing cards at each work party they attend.  These cards are converted to a numeric value (Ace = 14, etc.) and scored.  Attendee's scores are sorted within three groups based on the number work parties attended.  Attendee's attending all three work parties will be given first choice of prizes.  Prizes donated by Dealers and Manufacturers will be awarded at our annual Holiday Party and Award Night in December.
